How it Started

I first heard about Minutes for Memories five years ago through Greg McGee. If you don’t know, Minutes for Memories 501(c)3 exists to create memories for kids who have sustained long-term injuries.

Greg and I went to college together at Boston College and he asked me to play piano at the kickoff dinner in January 2012. I was struck at once by Addison’s story, Matt’s vision, and Greg’s invitation (just take a look around this website). I jumped at the chance. Three months later, I seized another opportunity and signed up for my first 5k ever. In that way, 2012 involved my very accidental introductions to road races and Minutes for Memories.

Fast Forward

Well, minutes turned to hours which turned to weeks which turned to years. Here we are in 2017. Neither my love for running nor belief in Minutes for Memories has diminished. This time, this year, I plan on being more intentional about running and giving back.

My entry was just accepted last week to run my first half-marathon on October 8 for the B.A.A . That’s about eleven weeks away. When I run and train on bad weather days, tired from work, meeting hills I do not want to climb, I can think of no better cause to push myself for than running this half-marathon to benefit Minutes for Memories

Music and playing the piano are two things very important to me besides running. I’d like to ask you to join me in a duet. I’m not playing a scale that runs up the piano. Instead, the chord I’m playing is to run in my first half-marathon. I’d ask you to join me, if not by running with me, by playing a small part to support Minutes for Memories.

Donating is the quickest and most effective way to help Minutes for Memories create special moments treasured for a lifetime for children aged 5-25.

Denny’s Dash

If you donate thru PayPal, please add a comment “Denny’s Dash” because, well, I like alliteration and the main reason is that it helps track progress toward my goal of $500.

If you are not in a place to donate (which, believe me, I can relate to as a recent college grad) I ask you this, would you consider forwarding this message to 1… yes 1… friend of yours?

That’s all I ask.

Even if we only reach $5… that’s $5 more towards making 1 kid smile than before you started reading this 5 minutes ago.

Thanks for your time,

Denny
